Play Connections β†—

What is Connections?

Sort sixteen words into four hidden groups of four. Watch out for red herrings: plenty of words look like they fit more than one category, and you only get four mistakes.

Connections is a free daily word game that will also appeal to fans of trivia games. Everyone gets the same puzzle each day, so it's easy to compare results with friends.

How to play Connections

  1. Look at the 16 words and find four that share a hidden connection.
  2. Select four words and press Submit. A correct group locks in and is color-coded by difficulty, from yellow (most straightforward) to purple (trickiest).
  3. Find all four groups before you make four mistakes.

Connections tips

  • Expect red herrings. Several words usually look like they fit more than one group.
  • If you see "One away", three of your four words are right.
  • Use Shuffle to break up word pairings that are leading you astray.
  • The purple group often involves wordplay, like hidden words, homophones or words that can precede another word.
